Paver Rehabilitation Program
CONSTRUCTION IS COMPLETE! 11.21.11

Construction is complete on the 16th Street Mall granite paver rehabilitation. In the picture above the rehabbed pavers are on the right. In addition to the cleaned surface resulting in a brighter appearance, the rehabbed pavers also have a rougher surface providing more traction for pedestrians and Mall Shuttles. For a closer view, the picture to the left displays the rehabbed pavers are on the left. Please check back soon for updates on our Pedestrian Light Rehabilitation Project.
CONSTRUCTION STARTED MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2011, in the eastbound transit lane. The granite pavers are being removed and rehabilitated off-site and the setting bed will be replaced.

PAVER REHABILITATION IS BEGINNING!
On Thursday, September 8, 2011, a test strip was completed on the block between Court Place and Tremont Place. Rehabilitation begins in the eastbound bus lane on Monday, Sept. 19., the westbound lane and sidewalk will follow.

What a difference!
RTD will soon begin construction on one block of the Mall between Tremont Place and Court Place. Construction will kick-off the first phase of upgrades that are planned for the entire mall. The project is designed to evaluate different construction materials to reset and rehabilitate the existing granite pavers on the Mall.
Construction will address the failing, 30-year old paving system in the pedestrian and transit ways, as well as color and friction enhancement of the paver surfaces. The Downtown Denver Business Improvement District will complete further improvements that include new street furnishings, trees and a pedestrian light rehabilitation. To view this Plan, click here.
During construction, the 16th Street Mall Shuttle will continue to provide service to this block, and passengers may board and deboard as normal.
Stop by and witness as the renewal of 16th Street Mall begins.
