Education Overview
Adjacent to Downtown Denver is the Auraria Higher Education Center, 127-acres housing three campuses - the University of Colorado at Denver, the Community College of Denver, and Metro State Denver - that serve the largest concentration of college students in the state. Highly sought after for its high standard of living, Colorado attracts and retains professionals and is the third most educated state in the country. Downtown Development Plans Guide Change
One goal of the 2007 Downtown Area Plan, a vision document establishing goals and recommendations for future Downtown development, is to "fully integrate the Auraria Campus and the Downtown core through strong physical, social, economic and programatic connections. The Auraria Master Plan calls for mixed-use development on the three campuses and the creation of a distinct identity for each campus. Click here to visit our Development & Planning page where you will find a complete Auraria Master Plan Presentation.

Guided by these two policy documents, the private and public sectors are committed to a future of enhanced connectivity and opportunities between the Auraria campus and the Downtown core. These connections will facilitate safe movement for pedestrians and cyclists, increase opportunities for internships and jobs for students, foster economic vitality for both the Downtown and the campuses, encourage cultural exchange and provide additional opportunities for development and invesment.

Student Housing Developments
With a recent surge in residential development, there has also been a surge in student housing. Three developments were recently completed, helping Auraria to transition from a primarily commuter school to a more sustainable and self-contained residential community.
