It was created for neither promotion nor profit, yet it is as insightful as it is illuminating when it comes to matters of development and respect for thoughtful and sustainable changes to our urban landscape.
With the abundance of development occurring in Downtown Denver, DenverInfill.com was designed to track the location of infill projects, provide statistics, renderings, maps and much more - creating a comprehensive resource for all Downtown development. Since its inception, DenverInfill.com has garnered national attention and daily weekday website hits averaging 900-1000 hits per workday and up to over 30,000 during peak months. What was initially intended to serve as a comprehensive overview and survey of urban infill and development projects has come to represent much more. The immensely popular DenverInfill blog sheds light on the intricate politics and barriers to development in Downtown Denver while highlighting infill opportunities in our urban core. Ultimately, the site encourages us to achieve the pinnacle of urban excellence.
The site’s creator, Ken Schroeppel, is no stranger to the challenges and opportunities in urban development and planning. As project manager and urban planner with Matrix Design Group, Schroeppel specializes in downtown revitalization, urban redevelopment, blight studies and urban renewal planning, community planning and visioning, and site and facility assessments. “I conceived this website with the idea that it should serve as a complement to the resources provided by the City and the Downtown Denver Partnership,” says Schroeppel. “DenverInfill’s independent and private-citizen perspective combines nicely with their public-sector and business-organization perspectives to create a triad of advocates for Downtown's growth and revitalization.”
Downtown Denver’s urban revitalization story needs ongoing publicity to promote its successes to the world. Every great story needs a great story teller, and Downtown Denver has found this in DenverInfill.
