Getting Around

 Getting Around
One of the main conveniences of living in Downtown Denver and the center city neighborhoods is the ease of getting from point A to point B.

  • Downtown is the hub of the entire regional transportation system.
You have easy access to Denver's highways, light rail, bus routes,
bikepaths, and 16th Street Mall shuttle.
  • If you work in Downtown Denver, living within a one-mile radius of the 16th Street Mall means about a 10-15 minute walk to work.
  • Accessing Downtown from the center city neighborhoods is easy--major arterials such as Speer Boulevard, Lincoln Avenue, Welton Street, Park Avenue and Colfax Avenue make it simple to get to and from the heart of the city.
  • There are a variety of transportation options to Downtown Denver for entertainment, sports, culture, performing arts and other activities. If you live in Downtown's core or some of the close-in neighborhoods, many of
these attractions are a 5-10 minute walk away.
  • Denver's bike path system on Cherry Creek and the South Platte converge in Downtown Denver at Confluence Park. Biking, rollerblading, running and other outdoor activities are easily accessible. The League of American Bicyclists recently recognized Denver as a Bicycle-Friendly Community.
  • Accessing Denver International Airport is easy. RTD's skyRide leaves from Market Street Station in LoDo every 30-60 minutes each day, and gets you to DIA in less than an hour.

Plus, center city living can provide significant savings--both in time and in commuting costs. If you work in Downtown, your commute time is shorter (often a 10-15 minute walk, or less) and your commuting costs can be drastically reduced. Everything in Downtown Denver is so conveniently located, many center city residents walk or bicycle everywhere--to work, to shop, to entertainment--and don't need to own a car, saving hundreds of dollars every month in car insurance, gas and car payments. And since Downtown Denver is so centrally located in the Denver metropolitan area, you can find quality homes that fit your needs and get to work easily anywhere--the Denver Tech Center, Boulder Turnpike, Denver West,
wherever--by car, bus, light rail and sometimes even bicycle.
