2006 Downtown Parking Summary This document provides a profile of downtown parking spaces, as well as commuting and parking trends for the Central Business District.

Special Event, Evening, and Weekend Parking Deals
There are several lots and garages that offer evening and weekend parking Downtown for $5 or less. Most of the rates take effect after 5 p.m. or all day on Saturday or Sunday. Remember, Downtown meters are free on Sundays as well. Many other Downtown restaurants and shops offer validated parking with a purchase, make sure to ask about special rates when making dining reservations or doing holiday shopping in Downtown. Click here for a list of Downtown parking lots offering parking for $5 or less. Metered parking is also free from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. daily and all day on Sundays. There is no parking on Downtown streets between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m.

Cash Keys
Cash Keys are a great gift! Cash Keys are available for sale at both information kiosks on the 16th Street Mall, one between Welton and Glenarm in front of Denver Pavilions, and the other between Arapahoe and Lawrence in front of Tabor Center. Cash Keys will be sold for $25 ($10 deposit and $15 to feed the meters). Please note: These locations will NOT be refilling, refunding or exchanging cash keys. Tips to make your trip easier:

  • Read all signs before you park
  • Carry a Cash Key or nickels, dimes and quarters for the meters. A quarter will buy fifteen minutes at most Downtown meters.
  • Many Downtown restaurants and shops offer valet service or validated parking. Ask about parking when making a purchase or calling for lunch or dinner reservations.
  • Parking may be cheaper and easier if you park a few blocks away from your destination and either walk or use the Free 16th Street Mall Shuttle. Click here to see our interactive parking guide and your parking options.
  • The best way to explore Downtown is on foot. You might discover a great new shop or restaurant.
