The Ultimate Urban Dining Table in Civic Center Park

CityBuild, the Downtown Denver Partnership’s newest initiative aimed at engaging millennials and getting the next generation of leaders involved in building this city, successfully transformed the 93 year old Civic Center Park into a beautiful Urban community dining room for 200 people.

The event, CollaborEAT, focused on encouraging collaboration and connection over a free dinner in the park and attracted people from a diverse array of fields and backgrounds that addressed questions like: What do youlike best about Denver? What would you change? How can you collaborate with the community and people around you to have a positive impact on Denver? How can millennials best activate a plan for positive change?

Speakers addressed the crowd and discussed why activating Denver millennials through CityBuild is important to growing the Downtown community in addition to tactical urbanism and why activation of public spaces is critical in places such as Civic Center Park.

The Downtown Denver Partnership launched CityBuild in September and the initiative focuses on engaging young professionals in all aspects of what it takes to create a great City (arts, entrepreneurship, planning, architecture, business, technology, etc.)  The initiative is a direct result of the Downtown Area Plan’s vision for a livable, healthy, economically vibrant and exciting Downtown.  The Area Plan provides a foundation for strategic actions that shape Downtown’s future development, enhance connections to surrounding neighborhoods and strengthen Downtown’s role as the heart of the region.  CityBuild helps engage the next generation of leaders within the community, giving them access to opportunities that support the Area Plan and the growth of Downtown Denver.
