Transportation

Downtown Denver is accessible by bus, light rail, bicycles, walking and the 16th Street Free MallRide. Using public transportation to arrive at The Parade is highly encouraged.

Walking and scooters

All open sidewalks will remain open during the parade event. Please plan for additional walking time, due to spectator traffic along the route. People on foot can cross at intersections during the event with the assistance with traffic officers on site.The Partnership would recommend against operating scooters along the parade route due to heavy foot traffic and asks scooters users to be mindful of where they park vehicles. As per usual, scooters are prohibited from operating on the 16th Street Mall. Please also dress appropriately for changing and seasonal weather conditions.

Bicycling

All bike lanes along the parade route will be closed between 7:30 and 10pm. Please be mindful of where you park your bike and use lights for better visibility. People on bikes can cross at intersections during the event with the assistance with traffic officers on site. Regular biking restrictions on the 16th Street Mall apply.Pedi-cabs will be allowed to operate on non-parade route streets.

Please consider the safety of yourself and others while choosing pick-up and drop-off locations.

The City Shuttle offers free rides between Downtown, Capitol Hill, and Cherry Creek. Book your trip on the City Shuttle in advance using the mobile application and service supported by Chariot. Parade route road closures will impact City Shuttle service during the event

Transit

Information about transit service disruptions for various routes can be found on RTD’s website here. Rail lines through downtown (D, F, H, and L) will terminate at Theater District/Convention Center Station at approximately 6pm on Friday Nov. 30th, and 4pm on Saturday Dec. 1st. The L line will operate a loop between 30th & Downing and 18th & California Stations. All downtown light rail stations on 16th St will be closed, as well as 18th & Stout Station. Downtown stations will reopen and normal D, F, H, and L line rail service will resume as crowds clear.The 16th Street Free Mall Ride will pause service during parade activity as crowds gather (between approximately 7:30 and 10:00) and will resume as crowds clear.

16th Street Mall Shuttle

With FREE shuttle service, once you arrive in Downtown Denver, your destination is only a short ride away. Mall shuttles will not operate during the one-hour parade, but will be running before and after. To learn more about the FREE MallRide, please visit www.rtd-denver.com.

Parking

Limited parking is accessible downtown during the parade event with impacts to on- and off-street parking options. Please plan ahead; arrive early and expect some delays when accessing parking lots and garages. Handicapped parking is available at all public parking lots.

Street Closures

Please note that there will be parade route and staging area closures before, during and after the event. If you are driving, be sure to arrive early before the street closures begin. Also, note that once the parade begins, light rail service will be temporarily discontinued between the Theatre District/Convention Center and 18th Street stations.Road Closures Parade of Lights 2018
