Horse-Drawn Carriage Permits
The Downtown Denver Business Improvement District (BID) permits the use of the 16th Street Mall right-of-way for the use of horse-drawn carriages. Horse carriage companies wishing to apply for a Horse Carriage permit have a specific set of rules and regulations they must follow, which are determined by the BID and the City and County of Denver.
Application Submission:
Submit the application. You will then need to email the following to Pamela Sellden at psellden@downtowndenver.com: a certificate of insurance for general liability, proof of registry of the business name with Secretary of State, veterinarian certificate of health, proof of vaccination and $150 application fee.
Process:
The application and required documents will be submitted to the Mall Use Committee for approval and meets the third Thursday of each month. Within one week of the meeting, you will be notified of approval status.
Guidelines:
Once the permit has been approved and insurance is obtained, the applicant must pass the test administered by the Denver Police Department Mounted Patrol. Applicant will need to schedule a time with the Mounted Patrol for testing. Mounted Patrol can be reached at 303.792.3294. Applicant must submit a form from the Mounted Patrol to the Downtown Denver Partnership verifying that they have passed the testing.
Pricing:
The pricing for a Horse Carriage permit is $100 per permit.
