Downtown Denver Partnership CityBuild Program- Olympic Overview Event
Ready for the Rings? Exploring an Olympic Opportunity
As the 2018 Winter Olympic Games kick off in PyeongChang and we look forward to cheering on the 35 athletes representing Colorado (more than any other state in the U.S.!) who will compete, the dialogue surrounding the possibility of Denver’s own Winter Olympic Games is also picking up pace.
Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock, with the support of Governor John Hickenlooper, has assembled an Exploratory Committee—chaired by Rob Cohen, CEO of IMA Financial and chairman of the Downtown Denver, Inc. Board of Directors—to determine whether Denver should submit a bid for a future Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games when the United States Olympic Committee issues a call for U.S. candidates. The Exploratory Committee, which is comprised of civic and community leaders from around the State of Colorado, is tasked with conducting a thorough examination of a broad range of factors to determine whether hosting a future Winter Olympic Games would be good for Denver and the State of Colorado.
Join CityBuild Denver on February 21st to learn more about the bid process and give your feedback about the opportunities, challenges and legacy of bringing the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games to our state. We need your feedback!
