Night Lights Denver February Artists Announced
At the Downtown Denver Partnership, we know that art adds vibrancy to our public spaces and helps people to feel a sense of belonging, and even safety. The Partnership is a proud supporter of Night Lights, a digital art display presented by the Denver Theatre District (DTD) which brings the Daniels & Fisher Tower to life with unique art using projection mapping technology. This month, we’re proud to join with DTD to announce new artwork being displayed on the Tower.
Night Lights Denver celebrates Denver as an international center while highlighting the diverse and varied connections our local community has to greater global networks. Beginning February 3rd, Night Lights will feature artists Xadie James, Tiffany Matheson, Alejandra Abad, and the Colorado Environmental Film Festival. The artworks will run on the Arapahoe Street side of the Tower (located at the corner of 16th & Arapahoe Streets) every Tuesday – Sunday in February. Shows run 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. through Valentine’s Day, and 6:15 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. for the last two weeks in February.
On February 5th and 6th, 2021, Night Lights Denver will include artworks made by students at the Downtown Denver Expeditionary School in addition to our commissioned artworks. Interactive art like this redefines how people of all ages engage with our city; and this project opens up an opportunity for our youth and students to be a part of creating the sense of place rooted in Downtown Denver that reaches beyond geography.
On February 19th, we will host the second edition of the “Black Resistance Visual Mixtape Series” in conjunction with Dream Create Inspire Tour. The February mixtape, in honor of Black History Month, is themed around supporting Black-owned businesses, and features content submitted from all over the metropolitan area.
