Thriving Tech Company Quizlet Announces Denver Office
Quizlet, the largest user-generated consumer learning platform, now used by two in three U.S. high school students and one in two U.S. college students, today announced the opening of a new Downtown Denver office, the company’s first expansion beyond its San Francisco headquarters.
The Downtown Denver Partnership worked extensively with Quizlet, the Colorado Office of Economic Development and Denver’s Office of Economic Development to land the growing company in Downtown Denver. Quizlet ultimately decided on Denver after considering a variety of other cities. The Partnership helped the company to better understand the tech scene by introducing them to area tech leaders, hosting Quizlet’s CEO, Matthew Glotzbach, at Denver Startup Week, and by hosting the company’s hiring team at the Startup Week Job Fair.
Currently growing revenue by more than 100% year over year, Quizlet has decided to expand outside of San Francisco and chose Denver for its second office location. The Denver office—which will eventually house over 300 employees will open its doors in November 2018 and will initially have a strong focus on engineering talent.
“Denver has the right mix of what we were looking for,” said Matthew Glotzbach, Quizlet’s CEO, to the Denver Business Journal. “Access to strong engineering talent and a growing millennial workforce that brings perspective to Quizlet that helps us understand the needs of our users.”
Glotzbach foresees Quizlet’s Denver office growing to be equal to or larger than the company’s San Francisco headquarters.
“The addition of Quizlet to Downtown Denver is a testament to our thriving tech scene and strong talent pool,” said Tami Door, President and CEO of the Downtown Denver Partnership. “The Partnership is thrilled to welcome Quizlet to our center city. We look forward to working with Quizlet to propel our culture of innovation even further.”
Launched in 2005, Quizlet is used by teachers and students in every country around the globe, and has become a classroom staple for more than one million teachers worldwide. Quizlet users create hundreds of thousands of study sets daily and the platform currently hosts more than 300 million user-generated study sets and 10.6 billion terms. Available on both desktop and mobile, Quizlet has more than 40 million mobile installs to date.
“We are so pleased that Quizlet chose Colorado’s thriving tech sector to fuel their explosive growth,” said Stephanie Copeland, Colorado Office of Economic Development Executive Director. “Quizlet’s industry-leading technology and need for a high concentration of diverse, highly educated talent are the perfect pairing with metro Denver’s robust talent pool and tech density. We look forward to seeing Quizlet’s continued growth and success from their expansion to Colorado.”
Having closed a $20M Series B funding round in February, Quizlet has been doubling down on building out the functionality of their AI-powered platform, Quizlet Learn, as well as growing their workforce to support the expanding user base. Quizlet is focused on continuing to grow internationally and fine-tuning its efficient and effective study tools for users.
