Between Us: The Downtown Alleyway Project
The Downtown Denver Partnership collects comprehensive data to develop content to inform and educate the downtown Denver community and its stakeholders.
In June 2018, the Partnership and the Downtown Denver BID, with artistic direction from Black Cube and funding from Bonfils-Stanton Foundation, launched "Between Us: The Downtown Denver Alleyways Project" to bring art to downtown's most underutilized public spaces.
This investment in downtown alleyways created opportunities to activate these spaces through art, encouraging residents, workers and visitors to spend time in areas previously overlooked, ultimately transforming them into safe and welcoming places that contribute to a vibrant downtown experience.
The project allowed five Colorado-based artists—Carlos Frésquez, Kelly Monico, Stuart Semple, Joel Swanson and Frankie Toan—to reimagine and transform these spaces into site-specific, sculptural art installations with a goal of surprising, delighting and inspiring those who pass by.
