June 2026 Data Update | A Month of Energy, Events & Summer Activations

With summer in full swing, downtown was buzzing with activity in June. Major events and activations, like the Soccer Celebrations held at VISA Street Soccer mini-pitch in Skyline Park for the FIFA World Cup, Pride on 16th Street, the Skynets over Downtown installation and the pop-up basketball court in partnership with DaVita honoring the Transplant games of America drew hundreds of thousands of visitors downtown despite the summer heat.

This strong activity was reflected in visitation data. 16th Street’s average daily activity increased by 11%, which is an increase of 30,000 more total visits compared to June of last year. Downtown's hospitality sector also continued to strengthen, with hotel occupancy rising from 69% to 72% year-over-year in May. Revenue per available room (RevPAR) increased from $151 in May 2025 to $168 in May 2026.

Downtown Denver's office market closed the second quarter of 2026 with a vacancy rate of 29%, a trend that has remained relatively flat over the past 12 months. Net absorption totaled –16,780 sqft and leasing activity reached nearly 500,000 sqft during the quarter. Notable lease activity included outdoor apparel startup Halfdays relocating and expanding its headquarters from RiNo to downtown; Cooper Carry, an architecture firm moving from Boulder; and LightTable, an AI-for-developers startup expanding from its former space at Venture X into a full-scale headquarters in LoDo.

Downtown has welcomed 34 new businesses since the beginning of 2026.  June openings included Friends & Co. Coffee inside of Rise Comedy Club in the Ballpark neighborhood. Sundae Scoop debuted their flagship location off 16th Street and a second location for Javai Coffee Kiosk opened in Upper Downtown.  Additionally, Tavern on Blake reopened under new ownership and branding.
