Urban Exploration Berlin Insights

Creating change requires leadership, vision, and a willingness to learn from each other; that’s why Urban Exploration seeks out and shares best practices to contribute to the ongoing evolution of Downtown Denver. In mid-June, the 2026 Urban Exploration program in Berlin, Germany brought together 120 business, non-profit, and community leaders to study best practices and innovations in city building to further implementation of the Downtown Area Plan.

Set in Berlin - a living laboratory for communities working through reinvention - the program featured immersive walking tours, group discussions, keynote speeches, and interactive workshops. Over the course of four days, our cohort explored how collaboration and political will turn ambitious ideas into reality.

The following insights highlight new perspectives gained from hands-on experiences and site visits during the program. How might these insights shape our immediate next steps for Downtown Area Plan implementation? Read further to find out.
