Every month, the Downtown Denver Partnership convenes our members to learn about the opportunities and challenges shaping Downtown Denver. At our February gathering, we hosted 30 of our members at the Colorado State Capitol for an inside look at the legislation and issues moving through this session. We were joined by Representative Steven Woodrow and members of Governor Polis' office for direct conversation on some of the most consequential topics in play for Downtown Denver right now: AI regulation, RTD reform, and housing.
Discussions like these are what engagement with Partnership is built for – to give our Members direct access to the lawmakers and leaders whose decisions shape the economic and civic health of our city.
Our Advocacy, Grounded in Your Priorities
The Downtown Denver Partnership is committed to building an economically competitive center city for the benefit of all. Working collaboratively with our partners, including the City and County of Denver and State of Colorado, we advocate on behalf of business for policies that support our work to build one of the most dynamic downtowns in the nation.
Our policy priorities are developed based on annual feedback from our Members, priorities outlined in the 2025 Downtown Area Plan, and guided by our expertise in place-based economic development and transformational urban planning. With these priorities as our guide, we work to ensure that local and state legislative and ballot issues and policies positively impact our Members and downtown stakeholders, operating with the core belief that when business thrives, our city thrives.
Our 2026 Policy Pillars are:
Economic Competitiveness: Ensuring downtown is an economic hub that consistently competes with the nation’s top-ranking cities when it comes to retaining and recruiting companies and people. Advocating for a business-friendly policy and regulatory environment that supports growth necessary to fuel our city’s tax base, nonprofits, and economy.
Quality of Life: To become more competitive as a great place to do business, a sought-after place to live, and a popular destination for visitors, addressing quality of life matters.
Safety & Security: Establishing downtown as an economic hub that consistently competes with the nation’s top-ranking cities when it comes to retaining and recruiting companies and people. Advocating for a business-friendly policy and regulatory environment that supports growth necessary to fuel our city’s tax base, nonprofits, and economy.
