Pre-Application Step for $570M Downtown Development Authority Now Open Online

Today, the City & County of Denver announced that they are now accepting Downtown Denver Development Authority (DDDA) Registration of Interest (ROI) forms to learn more about potentially transformative projects that would align with the approved Plan of Development. The information submitted will help the city assess the pipeline for potential projects before formal applications open later in spring 2025. Ahead of the formal application process, the city will host several public information sessions on eligibility and requirements in connection with opening applications. The Downtown Denver Partnership will keep Members posted on forthcoming opportunities to learn more. “The renewal and expansion of the Downtown Denver Development Authority has already begun to generate significant energy downtown, and the opening of the registration of interest represents a significant step toward realizing an investment that will not only address current market vulnerabilities, but be a true force multiplier in attracting future investment to our center city,” said Kourtny Garrett, President & CEO of the Downtown Denver Partnership. “The projects put forth during this pre-application stage have the potential to truly shape the trajectory of our city.” Opening the ROI represents yet another milestone in the city’s plan to invest $570 million to accelerate downtown economic growth, an effort first launched by Mayor Mike Johnston in May 2024. Under a Plan of Development approved by Denver City Council in December, the DDDA will accelerate economic growth and create a family friendly, thriving and diversified downtown core. The Plan of Development will guide the use of this transformative funding focused on:

  • New development and adaptive reuse (e.g., office to residential conversions)

  • Livability, economic opportunity, and jobs

  • Parks and public space

  • Arts, culture, and activation

  • Connectivity and mobility

“We are encouraged by the ongoing excitement surrounding the Downtown Development Authority and its potential for our city center,” said Bill Mosher, Chief Projects Officer for the City and County of Denver. “The Registration of Interest is an important step for us to better understand the potential projects that could become a reality through this transformative funding opportunity.” Key data points collected through the ROI will include name of owner or interested project type, project location, and project description. The ROI is designed and intended to be simple to complete and should take fewer than 10 minutes to fill out.
