Project Applications for $570M Downtown Development Authority Now Open

Today, the City & County of Denver announced that Denver Downtown Development Authority (DDDA) applications are now open. With applications opening comes a call for major projects that will redefine the downtown experience and attract new residents, businesses, and visitors, in alignment with the DDA’s approved Plan of Development. “This is Denver’s chance to craft the future of our city’s center,” said Denver Mayor Mike Johnston. “Every business, community group, and artist who wants to play a leading role in the revitalization of our vibrant and great downtown should be taking part in this initiative.” Applications will be evaluated on their alignment with the Plan of Development through a range of scoring criteria, including project readiness, feasibility, financials, activation impact, and alignment with city policy objectives. “With the opening of applications for the Denver Downtown Development Authority, we’re attracting transformational investment to our center city and poised to see impactful projects come to fruition that will change the face of the center city.” said Kourtny Garrett, President & CEO of the Downtown Denver Partnership. “The renewal and expansion of this catalytic economic tool will fundamentally reshape the city’s future, directly addressing today’s market challenges while unlocking the potential of strategic investment informed by the Downtown Area Plan.” The City will host two optional public information sessions on eligibility and requirements in connection with opening applications: Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 4 – 5 p.m. MDT (In-person) Wellington E. Project proposals that advance the goals of the DDA will be considered by the DDA Board of Directors for approval. Applicants that successfully advance through the DDA Board of Directors' review will receive a conditional notice of award, pending execution of contract and successful petition into the DDA boundaries.
