There's a new reason to look up in Downtown Denver, three larger-than-life aerial art installations, Sun Splash, Skyline Drift, and Quaking Gold by Poetic Kinetics. This series is strung across the city, making the perfect anchor for a self-guided afternoon of art, snacks, and more. Here's how to hit all three, with plenty of good stops in between.
Start: Denver Union Station
Stop #1: "Sun Splash" at Union Station
Kick things off right where the city's front door is, Denver Union Station. Snap your first Skynet photo in front of Sun Splash at Wynkoop Plaza, then let your cravings decide what's next. Hang out at Dairy Block for a browse through the shops and alleyways from Huckleberry Roasters to LoDough Bakery.
Stop #2: "Skyline Drift" at Skyline Park
From Dairy Block make your way to Skyline Park for the second installation, Skyline Drift. While you're in the area, continue to 16th Street for a photo at the Denver Postcard, a large postcard art installation you can step right into. Hungry for lunch? Swing by the OuterSpace for Mimi's Bubble Tea, and grab something from one of the kiosk food vendors.
Stop #3: "Quaking Gold" at Glenarm Plaza
Quaking Gold, awaits at Glenarm Plaza, where there's plenty to explore beyond the installation itself. Play with the installation Sound Discs, snap photos in front of the electric box murals, or wander over to the Aspen Trees near Denver Pavilions for a quieter, shady moment.
Cap Off Your Adventure
No downtown outing is complete without a little something sweet, or something cold. If you've got a sweet tooth, pop by Sundae Ice Cream to close things out. Looking for a drink instead? Enjoy one in the city-established consumption area at Glenarm Plaza with beverages from West Saloon & Kitchen and toast to a day well spent downtown.
